While the west coast gets nearly all the attention, Phuket's east coast is a genuinely different, quieter side of the island.
What's there
Cape Panwa's upscale seclusion, Chalong's boat piers and Big Buddha viewpoint, Ao Yon's local beach scene, and Bang Rong Pier as the departure point for Koh Yao — a string of lower-key spots facing the calmer waters of Phang Nga Bay rather than the open Andaman Sea swell that hits the west coast.
Why it's quieter
The east coast largely lacks the long, swimmable sandy beaches that made the west coast a tourism magnet — its appeal is more about boat access, views and a slower pace than about beach time itself.
