Sarasin Bridge: Phuket's link to the mainland

The crossing point into Phuket, and what's around it.

The Sarasin Bridge is the crossing point connecting Phuket to Phang Nga province on the mainland — the island's only fixed land link.

What's there

Beyond the bridge itself, the area on the Phuket side has a small cluster of seafood restaurants built out over the water, popular with both locals and visitors passing through.

Why it matters practically

Anyone driving to Phuket from the mainland, or taking an overland tour that continues past the island (toward Khao Sok or Krabi, for example), crosses here — a natural stop for a seafood lunch if timed around a longer overland journey.

Nearby Mai Khao and Nai Yang

The bridge sits close to the island's northern beaches (see our Mai Khao & Nai Yang guide) and the airport, making this corner of the island a natural first or last stop depending on whether you're arriving or departing overland.

Historical note

An older, narrower original bridge still stands alongside the current crossing, now used mainly by pedestrians and cyclists rather than through traffic.
