Day trips from Phuket spend a meaningful chunk of the day just travelling to and from the islands. A multi-day trip removes that repeated transit time, in exchange for less flexibility and a bigger overall time commitment.

A common pattern combines a night or two on Phi Phi Don, a stop at the quieter Racha Islands, and — season permitting — a push further out toward Similan for divers wanting the clearest water on the trip.
