James Bond Island & Phang Nga Bay

Limestone karsts, sea caves and the island made famous by 007.

Khao Phing Kan, universally known as "James Bond Island" after its cameo in The Man with the Golden Gun, sits in Phang Nga Bay north-east of Phuket.

What the tour covers

Most day trips combine the island itself with a wider tour of Phang Nga Bay's limestone karst formations, often including a canoe trip through sea caves and hongs (hidden lagoons enclosed by cliff walls), plus a stop at Koh Panyi, a Muslim fishing village built entirely on stilts over the water.

Is it worth it?

The island itself is small and can get crowded with matching tour groups arriving at similar times, but the surrounding bay scenery — dramatic limestone cliffs rising straight out of calm water — is the real draw.

Getting there

Nearly always booked as an organised day tour from Phuket rather than independently, since the bay's boat access points are on the mainland side.
