When to book Phuket accommodation for the best price

How far ahead to book, and how prices actually move through the season.

Phuket hotel pricing moves predictably enough through the year that booking timing genuinely affects what you pay.

How far ahead to book

For travel during December-February and Chinese New Year, booking several months ahead is genuinely worth it — the island's best-known properties sell out and prices climb steadily as the peak dates approach. For green season travel, booking a few weeks ahead is often plenty, since demand is considerably lower.

How prices move through the season

Expect the highest rates around Christmas/New Year and Chinese New Year specifically, a general high-season premium November through April, and the lowest rates during the deepest green-season months (June-September) when rain is most likely.

Last-minute booking

Outside peak periods, last-minute bookings can sometimes catch a genuine discount as properties try to fill remaining rooms — a riskier strategy during high season, when popular properties are more likely to simply be full rather than discounting.

Direct booking vs platforms

Some hotels offer a modest discount or added perk (breakfast, late checkout) for booking directly rather than through a third-party platform — worth a quick check before booking through a comparison site by default.
