Phuket has a well-established golf scene, with several courses built into the island's resort-heavy north-west.
Where the courses are
Most of the island's major courses cluster around Bang Tao and the surrounding area (see our Bang Tao guide), several designed by well-known golf architects and set against a backdrop of hills and, in some cases, sea views.
What to expect
Tropical course conditions — expect humidity and afternoon heat, meaning early tee times are generally the more comfortable choice, particularly outside the cooler high-season months.
Golf packages
Some resorts, particularly those built around the Laguna Phuket complex, offer bundled golf packages combining accommodation with green fees at an on-site or nearby course — worth comparing against booking a round independently if golf is a major focus of the trip.
Booking
Green fees, club rental and caddy services (caddies are standard practice at Thai courses, not an optional extra) can usually be arranged directly or through a hotel concierge — booking ahead is worth it during high season.
